Tissue Graft

Periodontal (gum) disease requires attentive, effective care. If you are experiencing gum recession or related periodontal concerns, our dentists may recommend soft tissue grafting. A soft tissue graft, or gum graft, involves adding gingival tissue to areas where the gums have receded or where the gumline appears uneven. During the procedure, grafted tissue—taken either from another area of your mouth or from a tissue bank—is carefully placed and sutured to the treatment site. Depending on your needs, the graft may come from the roof of your mouth or surrounding gum tissue. In some cases, tissue-stimulating proteins may also be used to support natural healing and regeneration.

Soft tissue grafting is often recommended when gum recession results from periodontal disease or overaggressive brushing. Without treatment, recession can lead to sensitivity, aesthetic concerns, and eventually tooth loss due to reduced support. A gum graft helps restore gum health, protect the roots of the teeth, and enhance your smile’s appearance.
